McGaughey Shines in 6-4 Boston Win
|
The Boston Shamrocks beat the Philadelphia Keystones at Shamrock Grounds. The final score was 6-4, in favor of Boston. Bill McGaughey led the way, going 3-for-3 for the home team. Justin Barbee, who is tied for 4th in the PBC in strikeouts with 87, was the winning pitcher. Over 8.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 4 walks and 10 strikeouts. Josh Harrison earned the save for Boston, his 1st of the year.
Manny Richardson had a big 3-run home run for the Shamrocks in the bottom of the first inning. With Boston leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Brandon Beech and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Shamrocks ahead, 5-1.
"Good, blue-collar kind of win," said Shamrocks manager Matt Mays.
The win puts Boston at 16-26.
