Denver Gets 5-2 Road Win
|
The Denver Cutthroats topped the Philadelphia Keystones, 5-2, in Professional Baseball Circuit action at Keystones Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Denver pitcher and Brampton, Canada, native Drew Conroy. Conroy got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 4 over 8 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Rafael Martinez recorded the save for Denver, his 1st of the season.
Denver used the hitting of Jim Blanchard to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cutthroats on top, 4-2. For the game, Blanchard had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Denver manager Keven Berman was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
Philadelphia, with the loss, is still a stout 3-1.
