Mavericks Rally For Late Win Over Union
|
Jonathan Thornton, who finished 3rd in the PBC in wins above replacement with 3.8 in 2003, knocked in 4 runs to help the Houston Mavericks win, 8-7, over the Chicago Union. Houston has now won 4 straight, while the Union have lost 4 in a row.
With Houston trailing 7-4 in the top of the ninth, Thornton hit a sinker from Jose Sierra for a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Mavericks ahead, 8-7.
"You start putting runs on the board and winning, everyone's going to get excited," said Thornton.
