Season May Be Over for Cutthroats Martinez Wednesday, September 25th , 2013 Denver (R) starting pitcher Hector Martinez could miss the remainder of the season because of a torn ulnar collateral ligament. He exited yesterday's San Francisco (R) game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Martinez would be out 12-13 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that." Martinez has made 1 starts so far this year and put up a 1-1 won-lost record with a 5.40 ERA. In 25 innings he has allowed 33 hits, walked 16 and struck out 27. |
