Tijerina Blasts 3 into Bleachers Monday, July 22nd , 2013 Jesus Tijerina went yard three times in a Miami (R) Sun Sox victory over the Philadelphia (R) Keystones at PBC Rookie Development Complex. "I was in a groove," he said. "Every pitch they tossed up there looked like a grapefruit." For the day, the Miami (R) third baseman went 3-for-4 against Philadelphia (R) with 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting that led the Sun Sox to the 6-2 win. "I tell you what. I'm shocked because I didn't think that last ball had enough to get out," he told BNN reporters in the clubhouse following the game. "I thought it was just going to be a long out." Jesus Tijerina flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Duncan Head in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Joey Fajardo in the 6th, walked in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Tyler Freeman in the 9th. Tijerina is hitting .306 this year with 3 home runs and 19 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .401, 18 walks and scored 11 times. |
