Smith Goes 5-for-7 Against Houston (R) Sunday, July 7th , 2013 It was a hits blitz for Mike Smith at PBC Rookie Development Complex. The Atlanta (R) Pilots shortstop tore into the Houston (R) Mavericks for 5 hits in 7 at-bats, but it wasn't enough to win the game. The Mavericks swept past the Pilots, 13-11, to ruin Smith's day. "We weren't locating our pitches well," Atlanta (R) manager Jason Stevens explained after the game. "Once you get behind in the count, you have to make really good pitches, rather than pretty good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today. Getting 5 hits from Mike was nice but it wasn't enough." Mike Smith hit an RBI double in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Omar Trocio in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, doubled in the 11th and grounded out in the 14th.
