2013 Pitcher of the Year Award Winner Announced Tuesday, October 22nd , 2013 Akke Nienhuis had a sensational 2013 season in the Amateur Baseball Circuit. The Houston pitching machine has been proclaimed this year's Pitcher of the Year Award recipient. This season Nienhuis starred with a 10-3 record. In 18 starts he gave up 76 base hits and struck out 119 in 114 innings with a 2.05 ERA. He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 18. Erick Sanchez of the Boston Battalion finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Howard Berard of the Manhattan Liberty finished third with 2 first place votes.
