St. Petersburg Sweeps Coyotes Tuesday, October 8th , 2013 The St. Petersburg Pelicans ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Albuquerque Coyotes 5-3 to win the Amateur Circuit Cup. St. Petersburg won the series 3-0, capturing the title for the 3rd time. "We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said St. Petersburg manager Eric Swanson. "It's a great feeling." The champs finished the regular season 59-29 and claimed first place in the Central Division. In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and first baseman Hisaaki Murakami said the Pelicans have "great fans and they deserve this."
