5-for-11 Day for Grissom Wednesday, September 18th , 2013 Fans at Yuma Grounds got to see not only a home-team victory, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season. The Yuma Gnomes outplayed the New Orleans Buccaneers en route to a 3-2 win, but the standout was left fielder Rich Grissom. Grissom netted 5 hits in 11 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line. "Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Buccaneers manager Ethan Campbell said in postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too." Rich Grissom hit an RBI single in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jim Vela in the 5th, struck out in the 7th, singled in the 10th, walked in the 11th, struck out in the 13th, singled in the 15th, doubled in the 17th, flied out in the 19th, flied out in the 20th and flied out in the 23rd.
