Rumors Confirmed, Martin Retires Friday, July 26th , 2013 David Martin said the one thing he hopes he's remembered for in his baseball career is for being the hardest worker around. It will be time to start reflecting on his career soon, as the 38-year-old Manchester Monarchs starting pitcher today announced his retirement from the sport. "I pride myself on my work ethic and I hope that rubbed off on my teammates and continues to rub off on the team after I'm gone," he said. Martin has a career 31-38 mark with a 4.45 ERA. He has fanned 640 batters, issued 327 walks, pitched 594.1 innings and limited the opposition to a .239 batting average. |
