It's a No-No for Raatjes Saturday, July 13th , 2013 Yuma Gnomes starter Coen Raatjes said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move. "I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Raatjes recalled. The right-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career. The Yuma right-hander no-hit the Arlington Stars, 2-0, at Yuma Grounds, finishing with 1 walks and 11 strikeouts, facing only 28 batters. "I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Raatjes admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out. I thought I just wanted to win the game, and then I realized I wanted the no-hitter, too." To date this season, Raatjes has registered 6 starts, 2-2 won-lost mark, 1.57 ERA, 40 IP, 50 strikeouts and 11 walks. Opposing teams have hit .196 against him. View Boxscore |
