Hayes Hammers 4 Homers Thursday, September 12th , 2013 Nothing could stop Matt Hayes -- certainly not the Sherbrooke Canadians pitching staff. The 32-year-old left fielder for the Winnipeg Buffaloes sent 4 baseballs soaring out of Canadians Park and made his name a part of history. Behind his barrage, the Buffaloes earned a win, 12-6, over the Canadians. "In the standings, a loss is just a loss, but this one was frustrating," Canadians manager Rodrigo Nino said later. "He clobbered us." Hayes's dream game included 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 homers, 7 runs driven in and 4 runs scored. "I know all the stories are going to be about me today, and that's OK," Hayes told the press in the locker room after the game. "Next time, it'll be one of the other guys." Matt Hayes hit a two-run home run off Bill Wright in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Bill Wright in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Bill Wright in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off George Herring in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
