Ricardo Mercado Out for Season Wednesday, August 14th , 2013 Watching Ricardo Mercado getting helped off the field today at Empires Stadium, fans of the Southern California Empires feared the worst. The news wasn't quite as bad as initially feared, but the starting pitcher will miss 9 months with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. "We feel we've dodged a bullet. When you see a guy break down like that, you worry right away," a team spokesman said. Mercado suffered the injury throwing a pitch in the game against the Capitals. |
