San Francisco Southpaw Tosses 3-0 Shutout
Thursday, September 5th , 2013
Alejandro Hernandez of the San Francisco Peanuts was on top of his game.
The 25-year-old tantalized the Washington Warriors with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 3-0.
"He had the changeup working," Washington manager Angel Sanchez said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The San Francisco hurler had 10 strikeouts, gave up 3 walks and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort.
Hernandez told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
In 1 starts this season, Hernandez has compiled a 1-1 record and a 3.42 ERA.
