Motors Plugged by Whalen, Mavericks, 7-0 Monday, September 2nd , 2013 Houston hurler Luke Whalen put on quite a show, as he blitzed the Detroit Motors with a 7-0 shutout. He baffled them with fastballs and changeups, allowing 5 hits with 12 strikeouts and no walks to pick up the win. "I think every time we were looking for a fastball, he threw a changeup and every time we were looking for a changeup, he threw a fastball," Detroit manager Sean Morgan told reporters after the game. This season, Whalen has a 9-4 mark in 17 starts with a 2.77 ERA. He has given up 110 hits in 123.2 innings, struck out 110 and issued 44 walks.
