Hernandez Goes Downtown 3 Times Against Sun Sox Tuesday, August 13th , 2013 Andres Hernandez brutalized the Miami Sun Sox pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 6-5 Boston victory at Sun Sox Stadium. The Boston Shamrocks first baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 3-for-5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Too much Andres Hernandez today," Sun Sox manager Barry Lolicht said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Andres Hernandez hit a solo-shot off Jason Lightcap in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Mario Valdovinos in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Owen Halsey in the 9th. This season, Hernandez has posted a batting average of .266 with 53 hits in 199 at-bats, 15 home runs and 31 RBIs. He has also scored 33 runs, walked 19 times and compiled a .330 OBP. |
