Beat Goes On for Shamrocks, Win 4-3 Over Blues
|
Pete Marquardt was a major factor in the 4-3 Boston win over New York City. The Shamrocks third baseman went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Isiah McNeal, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-8. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 12 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. The Blues, at 24-35, have lost 4 straight games.
Marquardt had a timely hit for Boston in the bottom of the sixth. With Boston trailing 2-1, he turned a 1-1 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season, making it 4-2, Boston.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Marquardt.
