Blues Drop Another One, 4-1
|
Tampa Bay left fielder Kengo Miyake was a significant contributor in his team's 4-1 triumph over the New York City Blues. He was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Thunder. Eric Kolbe snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2.2 innings. He's now 1-1 on the season. Picking up his 1st save was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Justin Denton.
Miyake had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-1 sinker from Leo Canales, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Thunder a 4-1 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Miyake.
Said New York City manager Jay Bourne: "They pitched the heck out of us."
The win leaves Tampa Bay with a record of 4-2.
