The El Paso Diablos beat the Tampa Bay Thunder, 4-3, with major props going to left fielder Ryan Burton. On the day, Burton went 2-4 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 3 for the Diablos. Jesse Steele earned the win to go to 13-2. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. Won-keun Baek notched his 8th save in 9 chances.
Joe Higgins, who is a two-time Great Glove Award winner, had a direct impact on the outcome. Higgins contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put El Paso up, 4-3.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Burton told the El Paso Daily News. "And padding the El Paso win column."
Tampa Bay has now lost 4 straight.
