Led by Tony Barksdale, the Los Angeles Knights defeated the Las Vegas Aces, 5-3. Barksdale went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk for the Knights. Matt Ryder picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-4. Preston Bailey suffered the loss. Luke Dickerson earned the save for Los Angeles, his 22nd of the year.
Had Jared Blodgett not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Blodgett hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Knights.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Barksdale after the game.
Los Angeles has an impressive 48-23 record.
