Houston Mavericks starter Ismael Villafan was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Detroit Motors, 5-3. Jonathan King picked up the save for Houston, his 14th of the year. With the victory, the Mavericks upped their record to 38-30.

Houston took a 3-2 lead on Roberto Estrella's 4th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Estrella hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Detroit pitcher Iulio Faletau visibly frustrated.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Estrella told the Houston Daily News.
