|
St. Louis turned a good performance from starting pitcher Ben Barger into a 4-1 triumph over the Miami Sun Sox at Sun Sox Stadium. In 8.1 innings, Barger surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Christophe Georges earned the save for St. Louis, his 7th.
St. Louis won the game in part because of Arlen Prest. The first baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Lions ahead, 3-1. For the game, Prest had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Ben pitches with such conviction and you see it in his body language, you see it in his attack plan," said St. Louis manager Leo Cruz.
The win puts St. Louis at 28-18 this season.
