Bruins Upend Empires, 3-1
|
Vancouver and Southern California played a hard-fought contest.
Butch Cagle pitched a gem to lead Vancouver to victory over the Southern California Empires, 3-1. Cagle yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-1. Ethan Hickson closed it out for Vancouver, earning his 4th save.
The Bruins got a big at-bat from catcher Bob Dickison. For the game, Dickison was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Vancouver a 2-0 lead.
"I was able to really locate my pitches tonight," said Cagle.
The Bruins, at 17-11, lead by one game in their division.
