Moose Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
Pedro Hernandez pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Southern California Empires, despite Hernandez's fine outing, dropped a 1-0 decision to the Saskatoon Moose at Moose Grounds. Ronnie Jacobs, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. Saskatoon, with the win, sits at 8-15.

Craig Lafer, who is a two-time Great Glove Award winner, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out and a runner on 2nd, the Saskatoon catcher hit a run-scoring single. That put the Moose in front, 1-0.

"Runs were at a premium," said Saskatoon manager Justin Fisher.
