Due in large part to first baseman Joe Keenan, the Newark Eagles sunk the Sherbrooke Canadians, 9-4. Keenan went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Oscar Loza got the win, improving to 2-1. He held the Canadians to 2 runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The Eagles have hit the ground running, raising their record to 8-4. While it's still too soon to talk about Newark hoisting their 1st SPBC Classic Series trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.

With the game tied, 2-2, in the bottom of the fifth, Keenan had a key at-bat for Newark. With the bases loaded, Keenan hit a 2-run single off Elijah Isaac, making the score 4-2, Eagles.
