Mexico City and Winnipeg duked it out and the Aztecas came out victorious.

The Mexico City Aztecas defeated the Winnipeg Buffaloes, 7-4, at Goldeyes Park. Jhong-shun Xú, who finished 2nd in the SPBC in batting average with .299 last year, was a standout performer for Mexico City. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 3 he knocked in. Mexico City starter Alex Arias was credited with the win after throwing 135 pitches over 8.2 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. Ben Lanahan sewed up the save, his 1st.

With Mexico City leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Xú hit a 2-run single off Winnipeg hurler Robby Harris. It was the 14th hit of the season for Xú and put his team ahead, 3-0.

"Good, gritty kind of win," said Aztecas manager Kyle Boss.
