Bruins Take Home 4-1 Win Over Ottawa
|
The Vancouver Bruins beat the Ottawa Capitals, 4-1, at Bruins Stadium. Starting pitcher Alex Rivera was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. In 7.2 innings, Rivera surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Nick Green closed the game out for Vancouver, earning his 1st save.
Pete Phillips had a big run-scoring triple for the Bruins in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Vancouver leading 2-1 and a runner on 3rd, he got a splitter from Chris Roessler and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bruins ahead, 3-1.
"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Phillips told the Vancouver Chronicle.
The loss drops Ottawa to 4-4.
