|
Joel Daniels knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Ballpark of Franklin, he made his case to be considered among that group.
The 21-year-old second baseman hammered 5 hits in 5 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Oil City Oilers fell, 7-5, to the Franklin Knights.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Knights manager Jim Crittendon told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Daniels wasn't the difference."
Joel Daniels hit a solo-shot off Danny Alexander in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Thus far in 2013, Daniels is hitting .308 with 2 home runs, 8 RBIs, 6 runs scored and has compiled a .400 OBP.
