Aces Lose By a Run at New York City
|
The New York City Blues managed to get by the Las Vegas Aces, 4-3, at Blues Field. New York City pitcher Xavier Rodriguez set himself apart with his performance. Rodriguez, now 3-4, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. John McClinton picked up the save, his 10th.
Jaquan Northcross had a big solo home run for the Blues in the bottom of the sixth inning. With New York City leading 3-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from former first round draft pick Sam Cross and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Blues on top, 4-1.
"Xavier did a heck of a job," said New York City manager Jay Bourne.
The second-place Blues sport a record of 15-21.
