No one was more impactful than Jaquan Northcross in the 7-6 New York City win over Houston. Northcross, who signed a 3-year contract worth $490,000 on 12/28/2012, went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. John Stone picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Mario Sanchez, who finished 3rd in the PBC in strikeouts with 162 in 2006, was tagged with the loss. Chris Coleman earned the save, his 1st, for the Blues.

Northcross had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-0 fastball from Mario Sanchez, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Blues a 7-6 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Northcross.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Blues manager Jay Bourne. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."

The Blues, at 7-11, inhabit 5th place in the North Division.
