Diablos Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The El Paso Diablos overcame a pretty good performance by Denver second baseman Dewey Duggan, beating the Cutthroats, 8-5, at Inferno Field. Duggan was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Manny Ramirez snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-1 on the season. Phil Van Haren suffered the loss. Landon Griffith earned the save for El Paso, his 2nd of the year.
Kevin Brown hit a bases-clearing double off Phil Van Haren in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Diablos in front, 8-5. In addition to the double, Brown had 1 single, while going 2 for 5.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Brown told reporters after the game.
El Paso is flying high at 12-4.
