Warriors Lose at Home, 3-1
|
Ron Clous pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Washington Warriors, despite Clous's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Miami Sun Sox at Warriors Park. Picking up his 2nd save was 29-year old right-handed pitcher Mario Valdovinos. Losses have been few and far between for the Warriors, now 11-2.
Miami used a timely hit from Brandon Davenport to get the win. The second baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sun Sox ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Davenport attributed the win to his team's "grittiness."
