Great Week for Boston (R)'s Remie van der Linde Monday, September 10th , 2012 No single hit brought Remie van der Linde Player of the Week honors -- the Boston (R) Shamrocks center fielder corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat. "Hitting is all about discipline," said van der Linde. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too aggressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes." Concentrate he did. van der Linde stroked 13 hits in 23 at-bats while cranking out 2 home runs, 3 RBIs and 6 runs scored. To date, van der Linde has collected 62 hits for a .277 average. He has posted 8 home runs, scored 20 runs and driven in 37 runs. |
