Holbrook Gone for Season in Boston (R) Saturday, August 11th , 2012 The doctors have spoken and Jon Holbrook of the Boston (R) Shamrocks didn't like what he heard. The 19-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Holbrook sustained his season-ending injury during the Dallas (R) Texans game yesterday at PBC Rookie Development Complex. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Boston (R) medical staff reported Holbrook had a torn flexor tendon in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 6 months. This year, Holbrook has a 2-5 mark in 12 starts with a 4.31 ERA. He has given up 52 hits in 48 innings, struck out 46 and issued 23 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .272 batting average against him. |
