Pilots Stop McCombs at 24 Sunday, August 28th , 2011 The 24-game hitting streak of Toronto (R) Titans center fielder Travis McCombs came to an end at PBC Rookie Development Complex. The Atlanta (R) Pilots held him hitless in 3 at-bats and also sent the Titans down to defeat, 3-1. Later, McCombs acknowledged to BNN reporters that the hit streak meant something to him. "It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. It was what we're all supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try to score runs. It was a cool deal, but it's over now. Let's try to start a new one." So far this year, McCombs is hitting .335 with 8 home runs. |
