Hits Galore: Howell Drills 5 Hits Tuesday, August 14th , 2012 It was a sensational day at the plate for Franklin Knights left fielder Trevor Howell, but a tough one for the team, as the Knights dropped the contest, 5-4, to the El Paso Mavericks. Even with the loss, Howell was pure misery for the El Paso pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-7 in an explosive display of hitting. "It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Howell, who is the 27-year old left fielder . "Howell really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Mavericks manager Bill Gardner told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Trevor Howell struck out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Maik Bergmans in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Jimmy Sparks in the 8th, singled in the 10th, grounded out in the 12th and singled in the 14th. This season, Howell is batting .317 with 19 hits, 8 home runs, 19 RBIs, 11 walks, .431 OBP and has scored 15 runs. He has played in 33 games. View Boxscore View Game Log |
