Injury Sidelines Steven van Laarhoven For Year Saturday, July 28th , 2012 Steven van Laarhoven of the Stars just might have to call it quits for the season. The 22-year-old Arlington starting pitcher received a possible season-ending injury against the Brooklyn Atlantics recently at Stars Park. van Laarhoven suffered bone chips in his elbow while throwing a pitch. The Stars medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 6 months. This year, van Laarhoven has a 4-1 mark in 10 starts with a 1.74 ERA. He has given up 37 hits in 57 innings, struck out 64 and issued 22 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .184 batting average against him. |
