Caruthers 5-for-6 Against Yuma Wednesday, September 14th , 2011 It was almost a perfect day for Brett Caruthers. The Boston left fielder displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day, but something was missing: The Battalion lost to the Yuma Gnomes, 10-5. Caruthers told BNN reporters after the game that luck was "fickle." Boston manager Hector Pina told the beat writers otherwise. "There was no luck today," the skipper said. "He got 5 hits because he has a solid approach to hitting and he put it all together, and we lost because the rest of us didn't put it together so well." Brett Caruthers tripled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.
