Westfall Goes 5-for-6 Against Fort Wayne Sunday, August 7th , 2011 Matt Westfall was at the head of a Houston hit parade at Houston Park. The first baseman went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Apollos to a nice 13-1 victory over the Fort Wayne Farmers. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Westfall told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Farmers skipper Jonathan Paul said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Matt Westfall hit a two-run single in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and flied out in the 8th. So far this season, Westfall has recorded a .522 batting average with 12 hits, 1 home run, 9 RBIs, 7 runs scored and a .607 OBP. View Boxscore |
