Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit Selects Top Rookie Friday, November 2nd , 2012 This year's outstanding newcomer has been selected and the honor goes to the Edmonton rookie Mike Smith -- the recipient of the 2012 Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit Rookie of the Year Award. The talented Drillers first baseman took the trophy by hitting .295 in 79 games this season and finished with 87 hits, 19 home runs, 45 RBIs and 51 runs scored. He received 18 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jaquan Northcross of the Detroit Chargers finished second in voting, while Lee Williams of the Quebec City Admirals finished third.
