Lurte Grabs SPBC Reliever of the Year Award Wednesday, October 31st , 2012 Josh Lurte now has a big bargaining chip as he potentially heads towards free agency - he is the winner of the 2012 Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit Reliever of the Year Award. The Vancouver Bruins star turned in what he called the "year of my life," in winning the award. It included a 2.88 ERA through 72 innings and 41 relief appearances. He recorded 19 saves, 86 strikeouts and had only 47 walks. He compiled a record of 4-7, while limiting hitters to a .227 average. He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 18. Jon Snowden of the Calgary Caracals finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Jay Briddell of the Hamilton Tigers finished third.
