Bruins Prevail, as Division Championship Series Goes to the Wire Wednesday, October 10th , 2012 The Vancouver Bruins are heading to the SPBC Classic Series, having narrowly defeated the Newark Eagles. Vancouver edged Newark in the series 4-3, with a win at Bruins Stadium in the clinching game by a 4-2 margin. Ryan Overberg turned in a strong offensive performance for the Bruins and got series MVP for his efforts. "I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a SPBC Classic Series win." It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Overberg continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance. For the series, he hit .261 with a .370 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 2 RBI and scored 2 runs. The Vancouver Bruins will play against the Mexico City Aztecas in the next round. Mexico City won their series against the Vacaville Steelheads 4 games to 2. The SPBC Classic Series schedule will be announced after the Division Championship Series finishes.
