Williams Spins No-Hitter Friday, September 28th , 2012 Jay Williams really did a number on the Denver Cutthroats at Garibaldi's Grounds -- and that number was zero. The San Francisco Peanuts hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Peanuts to victory, 3-0. "This is something special," Williams said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look." The right-hander faced only 36 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 6 and walked 9. "We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," Denver manager Seth Moland-Kovash said when asked about the epic performance. "Williams was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number." Thus far this season, Williams has posted a 9-7 record, started 22 games, struck out 173 batters in 164.2 innings and compiled a 2.95 ERA. View Boxscore View Game Log |
