Shackelford Sizzles with 25-Game Batting Streak Friday, September 14th , 2012 The New York City Blues may have proven to be mere mortals as they lost, 6-1, to the San Francisco Peanuts, but Jeremy Shackelford continued to hit like a god. The shortstop collected 1 hit in 4 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 25 games. "Shackelford is playing great and is on fire right now," Blues manager Jay Bourne said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Shackelford was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Jeremy Shackelford grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, flied out in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Thus far this season, Shackelford is hitting .317 with 10 home runs, 46 RBIs and 51 runs scored. He has 100 hits in 315 at-bats and has played in 75 games. |
