Phillips Blasts Aces, Thunder Take Game 2, 9-4
|
The Tampa Bay Thunder defeated the Las Vegas Aces, 9-4, in Game 2 of the Cup Qualifier. Making an impact was center fielder Darnell Phillips, who belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The win moves Tampa Bay into a 1-1 tie with Las Vegas in the series.
In the top of the fifth, Kengo Miyake delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Tampa Bay first baseman hit a 2-run double, putting the Thunder in front, 9-4.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Phillips told the Tampa Bay News.
Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at The Thunder Bowl in Tampa.
