Vacaville Breaks Through for First Win in Division Championship Series; Now Trails 3-1
|
Already down in the Division Championship Series, the Vacaville Steelheads put on their best show, beating the Mexico City Aztecas by a final score of 2-1. Alan Staubitz was special. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Vacaville now trails Mexico City 3-1 in the best-of-7 affair.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Steelheads had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the first, when left fielder Carlos Licerio hit a solo home run. The home run came off Alan Staubitz and made the score 1-0, Steelheads. Licerio went 1-4 with a home run.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Mexico City manager Kyle Boss said, following the tough loss.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Vacaville in Vacaville.
