Luallen Blasts Diablos, Warriors Take Game 3, 5-3
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of second baseman Bob Luallen, the Washington Warriors got a road win against the El Paso Diablos, 5-3, in Game 3 of the Cup Qualifier. Luallen hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Warriors, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.
There was more than one reason the Warriors beat the Diablos, but Luallen's big at-bat in the top of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 4-0 lead when he hit a grand slam home run.
"The clubhouse vibe is great," said Washington manager Angel Sanchez.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Inferno Field in El Paso.
