The Denver Cutthroats beat the Philadelphia Keystones, 7-6, at Cutter's Cove. The Cutthroats got a fine performance from catcher Alfredo Negrete, who went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Emmanuel Rucker picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-1. He struck out 8 in 7.1 innings. The Keystones have now dropped 5 straight.
The Cutthroats got a big at-bat from shortstop Dewey Duggan. For the game, Duggan went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 35th home run of the season gave Denver a 7-5 lead.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Denver manager Seth Moland-Kovash.
