Empires Suffer 7-1 Home Defeat
|
Vacaville turned a fine outing from starter Sean Lee into a victory over the Southern California Empires at Empires Stadium. The final score was 7-1. Lee, now 9-6, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The Steelheads saw their win-loss record go to 50-38. At the same time, the Empires fell to 46-42.
In the top of the first, Matt Lopresti delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Vacaville third baseman hit a 2-run single, putting the Steelheads in front, 7-1.
Said losing manager Jimmy Brown: "The list goes on and on of things we just flat out didn't do."
