The Tampa Bay Thunder overcame a good performance by Los Angeles designated hitter Bob Shiplack to knock off Los Angeles, 9-7, at The Thunder Bowl. Shiplack went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The save was credited to Justin Denton, his 16th. With the win, the Thunder hiked their record to 32-22.

Michael Brown had a big 2-run home run for the Thunder in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Tampa Bay trailing 4-3 and a runner on 2nd, he got a splitter from Bill Salden and swatted a home run to left. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunder ahead, 5-4.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Brown.
